In what will come as a new and surprising transfer twist, reports are claiming that English Premier League side Chelsea were never interested in signing Inter Milan defender Achraf Hakimi this summer. The reports are particularly hard to believe because the rumors had it over the media through several headlines that the Blues were the other club asides from Paris Saint-Germain to have shown serious and concrete interest in signing the defender. But according to the latest reports, Chelsea were never in the race.

Just earlier this month, there was a report that Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain were engaged in a bidding war for the Moroccan international defender, with the Blues said to have made an offer of around £70 million while PSG upped the bid to £80 million before finally establishing an agreement with Inter Milan over the transfer. But according to Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, PSG were really the only team that were showing serious interest in the player.
