LJAJIC WARNED

Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Montella has said that striker Adem Ljajic faces the risk of not being in the first-team in the coming campaign if he does not sort out his future. The youngster is out of contract in just 12 months. He has so far not accepted the offer of an extension from the club. The club owner Andrea Della Valle recently said that the player could be placed in the transfer market if he does not extend his contract. The club do not want to lose out on the player’s value, which could be nil in just 12 months.

AC Milan offer to have made an official offer of around € 8 million for the player. Fiorentina did not accept the offer by saying that it fell short of their valuation. It is expected that Milan will be coming back with an improved offer in the next few days. Montella has claimed that it is the time when players start to expect everything in the world at just 22 years of age. However, he has tried to infuse some sense into the player by saying that is he has to be calm and accept if he does not feature in the first-team.

Montella told best satellite tv that he has plenty of time left in football.

“If I was 22 years old and in Ljajic’s situation, I’d have done worse than him. At his age, you want everything. The important thing is that he rediscovers his calm. I can’t play him if he’s not calm. At the age of 22, you don’t accept being on the bench,” said Montella. After almost finishing in the top three last season, Fiorentina are one of the outside favourites to win the title. The club has made the signing of German international Mario Gomez from Bayern Munich.
