Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi has said that his team must concentrate on their own league form rather than pondering over the results of their title challengers. The Capital outfit have been in sensational form in the Serie A since the backend of October and they have dropped just four points from the previous 17 league matches.
As a result, they find themselves just one point behind league leaders Juventus but Inzaghi does not want to get carried away with the sublime run, he told: “Talking about others is always difficult. They have 60 points, an incredible rhythm like us and Inter. We have the obligation to try and stay in contact. 25 days have passed, 16 victories and 4 ties.
Incredible numbers, we’d be on top of other leagues. Here we have two rivals that are two battleships, but the players know that they must only look at themselves, trying to grow in every training. All matches are difficult in Serie A. It’s normal that the matches of others can help us.”
Lazio are the only team who have beaten Juventus twice during the current campaign and one of those came during the Italian Super Cup final prior to the winter break. On both of those occasions, they managed to register a 3-1 victory over the Bianconeri and Inzaghi will be hoping that his team can replicate the same when the teams face each other in April.
Prior to that, however, the Rome-based outfit have eight league games to contend with and they have a good chance of propelling to the top of the table, particularly with Juventus having to tackle games across three competitions. Lazio are already out of the Italian Cup and Europa League this term and they only have to concentrate on the league for the rest of the campaign.
