AC Milan appeared to be having no intention of selling striker Mario Balotelli despite rumours constantly linking the former Manchester City player with a return to the Premier league. Balotelli moved to the San Siro in an £ 18 million deal a few years ago. He is known to be a supporter of Milan and this helped the club get his signing. After the departure of numerous star names like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva, Balotelli is one of the few top players left at the club. Milan have been going through troubled times in recent years with a lot of difficulty especially in the financial sense.
This is likely to get only bigger after the club failed to get any form of European football for the upcoming season. They finished outside the Champions League and the Europa League places last season. Due to the suspect, it has been heavily speculated that Milan will consider selling Balotelli, who is one of the most saleable assets in order to raise money for new signings. In the last few weeks, the Italian international has been linked with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool. Despite the struggles of the pitch, Balotelli remains as one of the most talented strikers in the world.
“AC Milan must return to have a lead role in Italy, in Europe and in the world. Balotelli? I believe that he will stay and will be part of the new team. Inzaghi? I’ve seen him very determined, hungry for victory and absolutely in line with everything we want Milan to be. We want a team who wins and entertains the fans. There are different options we have in the transfer market. We hope to put a team out on the pitch next year that can begin a new cycle,” said Berlusconi.
